David J. Berardinelli is a partner in the law
firm of DeForest Koscelnik Yokitis Kaplan & Berardinelli,
where he began his legal career in 1996. David's work focuses
primarily on litigation in the areas of white collar criminal
defense for both corporate and individual clients, products
liability law, aviation litigation defense, commercial and
business litigation, First Amendment and defamation litigation
and labor and employment disputes. David has tried numerous
cases in both state and federal courts and has argued in the
U.S. Courts of Appeals on multiple occasions. David serves as a
faculty member for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute to instruct
other lawyers on topics related to white collar crime. David is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for this work in the field of white collar crime.
Between September 2000 and July 2005, David left private
practice to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney in the
Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District
of New York. There he handled a variety of criminal
prosecutions and investigations, including prosecutions and
investigations focusing on money laundering, bank fraud, mail
fraud and wire fraud. David worked closely with representatives
of financial institutions, including internal auditors,
compliance officers and counsel, as well as corporate
representatives. For several years David specialized in
investigating complex international money laundering and
narcotics importation cases. In July of 2004, David was a
speaker at the annual money laundering conference hosted by the
Colombian Association of Banks and Financial Institutions in
Cartagena, Colombia. In 2005, the Attorney General of the
United States awarded David the John Marshall Award for Asset
Forfeiture.
David graduated magna cum laude
from Harvard Law School in 1996. David received his
undergraduate degree magna cum
laude in 1993 from Bucknell University, where he was
captain of the varsity football team and President of Phi Gamma
Delta Fraternity. He received all-league honors as a
wide-receiver and twice was elected to the GTE First Team
Academic All-American team. He also was recipient of the Robey
Prize – the highest honor awarded to a graduating senior
by Bucknell.
A native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, David is admitted to
practice in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and West Virginia and
is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Allegheny
County Bar Association.
